Oh man… I honestly don’t even know where to start!!! My first dress meeting was in February, 2021, and here we are a little over a year later looking at the dress.. not only that… we are WEARING THE DRESS!!! It is honestly one of the most amazing feelings and so surreal!! I went in to that first meeting with sketches, and a vision of what I wanted the dress to look like, and more so, what I wanted women and little girls to feel like when they put it on. I can remember so vividly describing the dress I wanted to create. I wanted it to be timeless, elegant, classic, dainty, and have a certain grace about it so that when it’s worn it carries that grace with it. I wanted women and little girls to feel beautiful… I wanted them to feel like a princess.
The Charlotte dress is a timeless piece that can be passed down from child to child. It was important to me that it be a collection piece that was well-made. I also wanted to make sure that little ones could wear it for more than a year. We spent time creating a size chart specifically for my brand, months of creating samples and seeing them on fit models so that we could make appropriate changes where needed, researching fabrics, traveling sometimes alone, or with kids, or with my sweet husband, working on branding, website, etc. All of the hard work by EVERYONE, because it truly takes a village, and I am so thankful for mine- has been so worth it. Keeping this all under wraps has been one of the hardest things!!
I wanted my first design piece to be a mommy and me dress because it reflects so well where I am in life. My kids are such big part of who I am, and they have been so involved in this process from the start when we made our trip to meet with the manufacturer into a four day family road trip all the way to the changing the sleeves a few weeks before we went into the production phase because the original ones weren’t comfortable to the girls, and now to seeing them in the actual dresses twirling around. My family has been my biggest cheerleaders in all of this, and I couldn’t have done any of this without their love and support.
I also want to say how thankful I am for those of you who followed this journey. Your support means the world to me. I am so over the moon to finally introduce this gorgeous dress to you! I hope you love it as much as I do, and I hope you feel as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside when you put it on.
My hope is that this dress becomes more than just a dress for you. I hope it is a catalyst to special moments shared alone or between you and your mini.
