Mother’s Day only comes once a year, but somehow it sneaks up on me! My hubby and kiddos usually handle all the details, but sometimes it takes a little help from mama too. It is always one of my most favorite days of the year, and reminds me to not only enjoy the pampering but to also reflect on my out of the box journey to motherhood and to be grateful for the gift of motherhood. So- let’s get to my favorite tips and tricks for having the absolute most enjoyable Mother’s Day!
TIP #1 MAKE BREAKFAST PLANS
This is a topic where you have options! If you’re a breakfast in bed kinda girl- make requests! And then make sure you have the fridge stocked with the items needed. My kids love (with my hubby’s help) to serve me breakfast in bed. So I make sure I have everything at home that they would need to pull it off- think fresh berries, juice if you like mimosas, eggs, your favorite coffee creamer, etc.
If you’re a brunch girl- go ahead and make reservations ahead of time! Or have your hubby do it, but I just know from experience that getting worked up “because my hubby should have done that” gets me nowhere…except at home wishing I was at brunch haha. Line up your favorite place, choose a time, and get out and enjoy yourself and your family time! This is YOUR day so go all out, and then you get to let someone else do the dishes (which your husband will love you for since this probably falls on him since its your day).
TIP #2 PAMPER YOURSELF
Like I said, this is YOUR DAY!! Make the most of it!! Round up all of your favorite things to do an at home spa day or better yet- book one at your local spa! For an at home spa day, I love a nice long soak in the tub followed by a good foot soak. Then I do a facial scrub and apply my favorite eye jellies to sit while I apply my favorite nail and toe nail polish! My daughters love to participate in all of this action too! This is usually a night before activity for us so that we aren’t running around like crazies as we get ready for church.
TIP #3 PLAN YOUR OUTFIT(S)
Since we attend church on Mother’s Day, and we love to match- it takes some planning ahead for me to get outfits coordinated. Since it is Mother’s Day, I start with my outfit and go from there! The VIE by Lindsey Massey dresses make the most PERFECT Mother’s Day outfit! They are so perfect for a morning at church, brunch, lunch with friends, etc. Since there are Mama and Mini sizes, it makes it easy to match your little girls, which makes the day even more special. Use code MOTHERSDAY22 to save on your dresses!
TIP #4 PUT YOUR FEET UP
I know it’s really easy to “wash, wear, repeat” meaning- we get caught up in routine and how we want things done, but on Mother’s Day try to relax and allow your family to take up some of the slack. Read your favorite book, catch up on some shows, take a much needed nap, DO YOU!! Whatever you feel like you could us more of- do that!! Take advantage of a day that is all about you! And by all means- do NOT feel one bit guilty about it!
TIP #5 REFLECT ON YOUR GIFT OF MOTHERHOOD
This day is one that is hard for a lot of women. There are so many waiting to become a mama and wondering and waiting for their little miracle. I have been that girl before myself. So- on this day, I always make a point to be grateful for the ones who made me a mama. I like to journal, say prayers thanking the Lord for these blessings, and lastly- I love to just be with them and soak up the goodness of new memories made. This can look any way you want, but just taking time to BE- unplug and spend good quality family time. Coming from a Quality Time girl- let me tell you, this fills my cup more than anything.
I hope you find these tips helpful!! Make sure to send this article to all the mamas in your life!! And lastly, I hope you have the most AMAZING Mother’s Day!!
