I feel like I have been waiting for fall to show up for the longest time, and as of today- it’s FINALLY here!! Here in the South, it’s not quite feeling like fall because the temps are still really warm, but there are some things we love to do around our home to get us in the spirit of the new season. I wanted to share some of favorites with you!
Diffusing Favorite Fall Blends
I always associate fall with certain scents. So for me, diffusing my favorite go-to scents of the season is a must!! Here are a few favorites that you can find in my home:
- Autumn Air- 4 drops Orange, 3 drops Lemon, 2 drops Cinnamon Bark, 1 drop Clove
- It’s Fall Y’all- 3 drops Thieves, 2 drops Christmas Spirit
- Apple Pie- 3 drops Stress Away, 2 drops Thieves, 3 drops Lemon
- Spiced Cider- 4 drops Orange, 2 drops Nutmeg, 1 drop Cinnamon Bark, 1 drop Clove
- Pumpkin Spice- 5 drops Cinnamon, 2 drops Nutmeg, 2 drops Clove, 1 drop Ginger
A Fun Fall Craft with the Kids
So one craft that we have agreed on for this year is a Thankful Tree. This is where we made a tree outline on the back of a door in our home- you can do this on any large surface that you want and that your kids can see well. Then you trace the kids hands on red, yellow, green, and orange construction paper (fall colors). We went through and counted that there are ten weeks from now until Thanksgiving so we did ten hands for each kid and for my husband and I so that we could participate too. Each week, everyone gets to choose something that they are thankful for to go on one of their hands, and then the hand will go on your tree. When you get to Thanksgiving, you should have a full tree! I adopted this idea from Pinterest and modified it for our family.
Making Our Favorite Pumpkin Muffins
These have become a fall staple at our house! The kids love them, and they are pretty healthy except for a little bit of butter. The first few times I made them, the kids would eat the majority of them straight out of the oven so now I make a double batch each time. The recipe is so good and easy to make!
Bringing Out a Few Cardigans
Even if it’s just while you are sipping your coffee outside in the mornings in crisp cool air, a soft and comfy cardigan like this one from Barefoot Dreams will instantly get you into the fall feels. It is a staple piece for me this season, and I can’t wait to wear it on repeat… but for now- I bundle up in it each morning with a warm cup of coffee in hand and all is right in my little world.
I hope that some of our favorites will become favorites for you as well!! Let me know in the comments what you think, and please share any that are special for your family!
