We dedicated Hayes David and Vivian Elizabeth to God on February 24, 2019. It was such a wonderful day spent with family and friends. Vivi wore a bonnet that my Aunt Kathy made out of a handkerchief for Olivia when she was a baby so that was special.
The life verse we chose for Hayes is Joshua 1:9. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” This verse stood out to me so much for Hayes. He already has such a strong and full of life personality. He has no fear even at such a young age. I pray he is always strong and courageous and fearless. I pray the Lord will be with him wherever he goes, and that he will seek God with that fierce strength and courage that I can already see in him.
The life verse we chose for Vivi is Numbers 6: 24-26. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious toward you and give you peace.” That word peace. Vivian has been and is my peace. After some of the things life has thrown our way, it is so comforting to rest in His peace. I want that for her one day. I want her to know that God is good and gracious and the only place that we can find true peace. Peace that surpasses all understanding.
As we were standing up on the stage, I looked over at all our family and felt my eyes well up with tears a little. Our family is in no way “traditional”, but I wouldn’t change a single thing. How lucky are the six of them to have each other to lean on even when we are gone one day. They are all so different, but each of them have a love for each other that I couldn’t have planned for even if I had tried.
