Summer bucket lists are a favorite around our house! We enjoy sitting down together as a family and coming up with fun ideas of things to do all together throughout our summer. It is usually a combination of foods or drinks we want to make, places we want to go, activities we want to do, and things we can do to better our home and help others. It always gives us a good mark for what we want to achieve during the summer and combats again the “I’m bored” that you constantly hear when you’re out of your normal routine.
The first thing we do is sit down when we are together and sort of brainstorm some things we think may be fun- I will take notes during this part. Once we have come up with a bunch to choose from, we start to narrow it down to usually around 30 things that are our favorites from the list. I try to make sure that everyone agrees on the top choices and is excited about them.
My next step is to use Canva to create an 18×24 poster for us to hang and mark off our items as we complete them. If you don’t use Canva or aren’t familiar with it, a poster board and markers are always fun to just create your own! I have even printed off a summer calendar that I have found on Pinterest and used it before I started making my own. Kids love anything like this and are so visual so they just enjoy being able to see, participate, and help mark the activities off as you enjoy them together. Once I create the poster, I will save it to a thumb drive and take it to a store like Office Depot to have it printed. You can even email it if that is easier and just pick it up once it’s printed.
Here is a copy of ours for this year below to help give you some ideas!
