Baking is an activity that we have enjoyed as a family for as long as I can remember! It is a way for each of us to spend time together while allowing them to be creative and let loose a little bit in the kitchen. I love that even some of the most simple recipes can be the most fun to create. My kids look forward to baking together every week. I encourage you to try this yummy halloween recipe with your family, I know you will love it.
What’s needed:
Candy eyes
Box chocolate cake mix (ingredients needed on box for cake)
Chocolate icing
Ziplock bag
Icing tip
Cupcake liners in black
Oreos or similar black cookie of choice
Chocolate melting wafers
Instructions:
Preheat oven, and prepare cupcakes according to package directions. Make sure to use black liners and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
While cupcakes are baking- cut Oreos in half with sharp knife and then separate sides into one single cookie layer. (We tried to use entire cookie and it was too large for cupcake so we had to separate). Melt your chocolate wafers in microwave. We took out to stir every 30 seconds.
Once melted, dip cut in half cookies into melted chocolate and lay out on parchment paper or tin foil to harden.
Once your cupcakes are finished baking, let them cool completely. Cut a small slit in the bottom corner of your ziplock bag and put the icing tip in. Add your icing into the bag and roll the open end up to close it.
Ice your cupcakes, add the tiny eyes and then your dried Cookie “wings” and you’re done! We stored leftovers in the fridge.
Have fun and enjoy time in the kitchen with your little ones!
